Aftab Sultan tenders resignation as NAB chairman

According to the sources, Aftab Sultan had reservations after the NAB’s powers were trimmed under the amended NAB Act.

Aftab Sultan tenders resignation as National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman on Tuesday.

Prime Minister’s Office made the confirmation in a statement that Sultan had presented his resignation to PM Shehbaz citing personal reasons.

“The prime minister appreciated the services of Aftab Sultan and lauded his honesty and uprightness. Upon his insistence, the prime minister reluctantly accepted the resignation of Sultan,” said the PM Office. 

While speaking to Geo News, Sultan said that he had resigned from office a few days ago.

“I was asked to do certain things which were not acceptable to me,” Aftab Sultan said.

“I told them that I cannot continue with the conditions. My resignation has been accepted and it comes to an end on a positive note,” he said. “Prime minister expressed good wishes for me, I also have good wishes for him.”

Former Director General Intelligence Bureau Aftab Sultan was appointed Chairman National Accountability Bureau for 3 years on 21 July 2022, 7 months ago.
