Ailing Noor Jehan’s condition worsens after falling into empty concrete pond

Noor Jehan, who recently underwent successful surgery by a team of foreign doctors, fell into an empty concrete pond at the Karachi Zoo on Thursday, which further worsened her condition.

After being pulled out of the pond with a crane, the ailing elephant has been lying on the ground.

Noor Jehan has not yet been able to stand on her feet, she is still moving her limbs.

According to Safari Park Director Kanwar Ayub, Noor Jehan is facing difficulty in getting up due to pain in her hind legs.

He added that the elephant is being treated under instructions given by foreign doctors.

The Karachi Zoo management has claimed that the 17-year-old ailing elephant Noor Jehan lying on the ground as a way to recovery.

Administrator Karachi Dr Saif-ur-Rehman said that the staff is adhering to the instructions of the foreign NGO’s medical specialists and expressed the hope that Noor Jehan will soon make a full recovery.

On the other hand, JFK Animal and Rescue Shelter, in a statement said that Noor Jehan is “badly injured and lifeless” as the recommendations given by Four Paws for her comfort and diet were not followed.

On April 5, a team of veterinarians and wildlife experts from the global animal welfare organisation Four Paws examined Noor Jehan, who has been in poor health for the past couple of months at Karachi Zoo.
