Abdul Aleem Khan has received the ownership agreement of Samaa TV!

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader and Punjab Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan has officially bought Samaa TV.

As being reported, the deal was finalized earlier this week after the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has allowed the change of management and transfer of shares to Punjab minister Aleem Khan’s company.

PTI’s Aleem Khan is reported to have acquired Samaa TV at a whopping Rs 3.56 billion price.

Aleem Khan is also a member of the board of governors of Value TV which is now known as Channel 24 and this office had now become in conflict with the ownership of a new channel.

As being reported, during the 165th PEMRA meeting presided over by its chairman, Mohammad Saleem Baig, the application of Messrs Jaag Broadcasting Systems Limited, which runs Samaa TV, for change of management and transfer of its shares was unanimously approved.

Samaa TV was launched by Zafar Siddiqui in December 2007.

Samaa News is currently the fourth largest news media channel in Pakistan.

As being reported, Samaa has 7% of Pakistan’s television viewers tuning in daily.

However, the latest deal has raised a question of free media as a politician has acquired the news channel.

The concerns are being shared on social media:
