In a first of attempts to find cure for novel Coronavirus disease Covid-19, scientists at Kaiser Permanente Washington Research Institute in Seattle have tested the first dose of vaccine at four healthy volunteers on Monday. The vaccine will be administered over a course of two doses, a month apart, on 45 volunteers aged 18-55.
“We’re team coronavirus now. Everyone wants to do what they can in this emergency,” Associated Press reported Kaiser Permanente study leader Dr. Lisa Jackson.
The vaccine is not the only variant that is being worked upon to fight Coronavirus. Inovio Pharmaceuticals is also expected to begin its own safety study next month in the US, China and South Korea.
However, even if successful lab results do come out of this vaccine by Moderna Inc, the vaccine will not be available for public use on a large scale till 12 to 18 months.
