Another doctor in Karachi dies contracting coronavirus

A third doctor has died after contracting COVID-19 in Karachi, Secretary General of Pakistan Medical Association, Dr Qaiser Sajjad told late Sunday night.

According to the details, Dr Furqan who had passed away, was recently retired from the Karachi Institute of Heart Diseases as chief medical officer — was unable to get treatment despite visiting several hospitals, he said.

“He had tested positive for the virus around four days ago and had self-isolated at home. But because he had heart troubles, he was facing difficulty in breathing.”

He was taken to a hospital on Sunday morning when his condition deteriorated, but the hospital refused to take him in for treatment. Later, he tried to get himself admitted to any of the isolation wards but was unable to get medical cure, he added.

“If a doctor in the city cannot be given a ventilator then what will happen to common citizens,” Dr Sajjad questioned.
