Asian Volleyball Championship: Pakistan finish 7th after beating arch rivals India

Pakistan’s journey at the Asian Volleyball Championship ended with a win over arch-rivals India as they finished 7th in the competition. Team Green downed India 3-2.

Pakistan made a dominant start winning the first two games 25-23 and 25-21. However, India made a strong comeback taking the next two sets 25-20 and 25-19. In the final set, Pakistan surged ahead and won it 15-6. The win gave Pakistan the 7th position.

Islamabad to host Pakistan-India Davis Cup match

Pakistan was initially grouped with South Korea, Indonesia and Kuwait. They were defeated by South Korea but registered wins against Kuwait and Indonesia. However, in the classification round Pakistan all three games against South Korea, Japan and Chinese Taipei.

India also lost all three classification matches. This set up the match between the arch-rivals for 7th and 8th position.

Host Iran and Australia qualified for the final and will fight it out for the Asian Men’s Volleyball Championship trophy.
