Aurat March Islamabad Organizers booked for Violating Section 144

Area Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza Chandio lodged the complaint on Thursday

The Islamabad police have registered a case against the organizers of the Aurat March for staging a protest on March 8 in violation of Section 144.

As reported, the case was filed at Kohsar Police Station under Sections 188 and 341 of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and Section 8 of the Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Act 2024.

Area Magistrate Ghulam Murtaza Chandio lodged the complaint on Thursday and cited video evidence from social media showing Farzana Bari leading a rally of over 150 women towards the National Press Club, where the protest took place.

The magistrate confirmed that no No Objection Certificate (NOC) had been issued for the march, making the protest illegal due to the imposition of Section 144 by the Deputy Commissioner, which bans all forms of protest in the federal capital.

The protesters reportedly blocked Shaheed-i-Milat Road despite attempts by police to intercept them.
