Biden on Monday made a surprise visit to the Ukrainian capital Kyiv!

The surprise visit by the president of the United States of America comes ahead of the one-year anniversary of the Russian offensive.

POTUS met with Ukraine’s president Volodymyr Zelensky during the highly secretive and unprecedented trip.

“As we approach the anniversary of Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine, I’m in Kyiv today to meet with President Zelenskyy and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to Ukraine’s democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity,” POTUS said in a statement.

“When Putin launched his invasion nearly one year ago, he thought Ukraine was weak and the West was divided.  He thought he could outlast us. But he was dead wrong. Over the last year, the United States has built a coalition of nations from the Atlantic to the Pacific to help defend Ukraine with unprecedented military, economic, and humanitarian support – and that support will endure,” the statement added.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy also confirmed Biden’s visit on Telegram, calling his visit “an extremely important sign of support for all Ukrainians.”

The announcement of the visit comes as a nationwide air raid alert was sounded in the country, including the capital Kyiv.

As reported the US President has announced a half-billion dollars in new assistance, saying the package would include more military equipment, such as artillery ammunition, more javelins and Howitzers.

While new sanctions would be imposed on Moscow later this week.

The images showing Biden walking alongside President Volodymyr Zelensky around the gold-domed St. Michael’s Cathedral, have flooded social media.
