Bilawal, Zardari record their statements at the NAB office

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, co-chairperson and former president of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari have recorded their statements before National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on mega money laundering scandal on Wednesday.

The PPP leaders appeared before the NAB headquarters in Islamabad amid strict security where a large crowd of PPP supporters gathered outside the NAB office. The workers tried to enter the building resulting in a clash with the security personnel. The workers of the party remove the blockades at NADRA chowk to reach the office.

The security personnel outside the NAB building baton -charged the PPP workers and arrested seven to eight workers involved in clash with the police.

The press release by NAB said the PPP leaders were questioned for approximately two hours in three cases by the Combined Investigation Team. Asif Zardari and Bilwal Bhutto were initially supposed to sit separately were questioned in the same.

According to the sources, Bilawal Bhutto did not convince the team with his answers and remained silent on most of the questions asked. He was questioned for 40 minutes on the Park Lane Estate Company while Asif Zardari questioned for 50 minutes on the Zardari group.

Meanwhile, Zardari was asked to submit responses on 40 questions of the investigation team within a week. However, he sought for 10 to 15 days.

Last week, a banking court in Karachi had ordered the transfer of the case to Islamabad and summoned Zardari and Bilawal on March 20.
