Brazilian novelist Paulo Coelho defends Maryam Nawaz’s faux pas!

The author responded in a tweet, sharing a clip of Maryam Nawaz’s recent interview in which she mispronounced Paulo Coelho’s name.

“I make mistakes very often in pronunciation of foreign names, so don’t be critical,” Paulo Coelho said.

The PML-N supremo’s daughter has been on the target of trolls as during an interview, she mispronounced his name, calling him “Paulo Coedo”.

“Like there’s Paulo Coedo, he’s a Brazilian author, whom I read with much joy. [He’s] written [The] Alchemist and Warrior of Light,” Maryam said responding to a question about what she likes to read.

 

Paulo Coelho de Souza is a Brazilian lyricist and novelist and a member of the Brazilian Academy of Letters since 2002.

Coelho’s novel The Alchemist was first published in 1998 and became an international best-seller and he has published 28 more books since then.
