A deadly bus-truck collision on Indus Highway in Dera Ghazi Khan has left around 30 people killed and more than 40 injured on Monday.
As being reported, a passenger bus traveling from Sialkot to Rajanpur collided with a truck on Taunsa Road near Jhok Yaro in Dera Ghazi Khan.
According to the rescue sources, the road has been cleared for traffic after removing the bus and truck from the accident site.
At first, Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Dr. Irshad Ahmed confirmed that 29 people, including women and children, had died in the incident.
According to him, the rescue officials reached the site soon after the accident.
He added that that dead bodies and the injured were transferred to the DHQ Teaching Hospital DG Khan.
According to the hospital management, four of the injured were in critical condition.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid took to social media to expressed his sorrow over the deaths in the accident. He said the incident was nothing less than a “calamity” for people going back home for the Eidul Azha holidays.
Special Assistant to the Punjab Chief Minister Dr. Firdous Ashiq Awan in a tweet said that the incident was very “sad and tragic”.
She said that an emergency had been imposed in the hospitals and the injured were being provided with the best medical treatment facilities, and Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar himself is supervising all matters.
