Cellular services to be suspended in 7 cities of Punjab on Ashura, August 30, according to a notification issued by the provincial home department on Wednesday.
The decision has been taken by the Punjab government to suspend mobile phone services on Ashura due to security concerns in seven cities of the province.
The cities to have a suspension of cellular services include Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sheikhupura, Jehlum, Chiniot, Okara, and Bahawalpur.
According to the notification, the Punjab government has sought details from the seven relevant district administrations for the suspension of mobile phone service.
The notification sent to the respective cities has directed the district administrations to let the provincial government know the timing for the suspension of cellular service.
It further added that the timings of suspension will be sent to the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) so any untoward accident can be avoided.
