Change in Federal Cabinet Portfolios: Sheikh Rashid Appointed as The Interior Minister
The federal government on Friday has announced a reshuffle in cabinet portfolios.
As per the notification from the PM’s office, Shiekh Rashid Ahmed has been given the portfolio of Minister for Interior.
This is for the first time in the PTI government’s tenure that a federal interior minister has been appointed. Earlier the portfolio was held by the PM himself and later by retired Brig Ijaz Ahmed Shah, who was appointed the federal minister for parliamentary affairs just last month.

Minister of State for Interior Shehryar Afridi has now been named the Minister for States and Frontier Regions (Safron).
While earlier in the day President Dr. Arif Alvi administered the oath to Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh as Finance Minister at a ceremony at Aiwan-e-Sadr.
Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh was previously serving as an Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance.
The development comes in light of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) decision on the inclusion of advisors and special assistants in cabinet committees.
