#BoycottChicken: Pakistanis outraged as poultry meat price cross Rs500 per Kg

#BoycottChicken was one of the most trending topics on 8th March as Pakistanis are outraged as poultry ‘chicken’  meat price cross Rs500 per Kg.

The price of chicken in various cities across the country saw a skyrocketing increase in the past few days.

As being reported, the chicken meat prices registered an all-time high in Karachi on Saturday when chicken meat per kilogram prices reached Rs 364 adding Rs 9 in the rate of Friday while live chicken prices were set at Rs 251 per kilogram.

The reason for the price hike cited by the poultry farm owners is that there is a gap between the demand and supply which occurred because of the shortage of day-old chicks.

Consumers express their grave concerns regarding this recent price hike.

While the majority of the citizens have also raised questions over the performance of price monitoring committees.

Meanwhile, in Lahore, chicken meat is being sold at Rs365 per kg and Rs400 per kg in Islamabad.

A number of social media users have come up with the idea to boycott buying chicken meat for a few days so that the prices might get back to normal.
