Comedian stage actor Amanullah passed away in Lahore on Friday after a prolonged illness.
Veteran standup comedian was undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the city. According to his family, he was suffering from lung and kidney disease.
Earlier in January, he suffered from a serious attack of pneumonia, due to which doctors advised him to be admitted to the hospital. His health since then deteriorated, which led to circulation of fake news of his death.
Amanullah Khan was a Pakistani television stand up comedian and actor regarded as one of the best comedians in Pakistan. He has influenced many artists as well as people during his entertainment career spanning over 40 years. He also held a record of 860-day night theater plays.
Lately, he was associated with TV shows including Mazaaq Raat and Khabarnaak. He was honoured with the pride of performance award in 2018.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of renowned comedian Amanullah.
In his condolence message, he commiserated with the bereaved family and prayed for the departed soul. He said Amanullah was an asset to the stage and drama industry.
