Coronavirus: 3,753 employees of Sindh Police affected, condition of one DIG is critical

The number of infected Sindh police personnel is also increasing during the second wave of coronavirus in Pakistan.

With 25 new cases reported in the last two days, around 3753 personnel and officers of Sindh Police had contracted coronavirus so far, informed spokesman to Sindh Police on Friday.

Of these, 3486 have recovered, 20 police personnel including SPs, DSPs, and inspectors have died while 247 police personnel are still affected by COVID-19.

The spokesman added that all due care was being provided to the affected personnel.

According to the news source, most of the affected policemen are in isolation at home or in different hospitals.

According to police sources, a senior police officer, DIG Asif Ijaz Sheikh, was among those who were infected with the coronavirus.

Asif Ijaz Sheikh has been admitted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Clifton.

According to the source, he has been placed on a ventilator. The family of Asif Ijaz Sheikh has appealed to pray for his speedy recovery.

As of Friday, Sindh reported 1,664 new cases of the novel coronavirus, taking the provincial tally to 180,904.
