Coronavirus: No passport, ID card renewal at Pakistan consulate in Dubai for 15 days

Pakistan consulate in Dubai has suspended its services for 15 days in accordance with the UAE government’s decision for social distance advisory amidst the corona virus outbreak world wide.

The consulate’s services to offer new identity cards and passports, as well as their renewal were stopped with immediate effect.

The consulate will remain open only for emergency services during the next two weeks.

“All Pakistani nationals living in Dubai and Northern Emirates are informed that all services in Consulate General of Pakistan will remain suspended till the next notification. The consulate will remain open only for emergency services,” according to a tweet by Consulate General of Pakistan, Dubai.

Ahmed Amjad Ali, the consul general of Pakistan in Dubai, has advised the Pakistani expatriats to avail online services in the meanwhile.

He has also urged the community to follow the consulate’s social media accounts for latest updates on its services.

“We handle up to 1,200 visitors daily at the consulate. However, we have no choice under the circumstances but to suspend the services except emergency ones at the consulate for the safety of public,” Amjad Ali said talking to a local daily.

The Consul General further clarified that those who needed to get their marriage certificates or educational degrees attested, in emergency, can still come to the consulate. Also people who needed help in case of death certificate or urgent help can contact the consulate.
