Coronavirus Second Wave: Several Streets Put on Lockdown in Islamabad

Amidst the second wave of the global pandemic, several streets that have been declared as “coronavirus hotspots” have been put on lockdown in Islamabad from Today (Sunday).

Hamza Shafqaat, the deputy Commissioner of Islamabad said that, “Only people with jobs in essential services and with negative Covid certificates will be allowed to leave [the area].”

The deputy commissioner added that the neighbourhoods will be reopened once the health teams would give the clearance after completing testing, tracing and quarantine of suspected cases.

“Assistant commissioners will be coordinating to make sure that arrangements are in place,” said the deputy commissioner.

He further informed that the “second wave [of coronavirus] is here” and directed the residents of Islamabad to follow the SOPs issued for combating the lethal virus.
