Countries ground Boeing’s 737 MAX 8 as concerns mount after Ethiopian Airlines crash

A day after Ethiopian Airlines passenger jet crash, which killed all 157 people aboard, few countries have grounded Boing’s 737 Max 8 aircraft,  which happens to be the best-selling Boeing aircraft.

As being reported, Singapore and Australia suspended operations of all Boeing 737 MAX aircraft in and out of their country’s airports on Tuesday.

While Indonesia and China grounded their fleets of the US plane maker’ s latest model after it suffered a second fatal crash in less than five months. It was last year in October when a 737 MAX 8 flown by Lion Air went down off the coast of Indonesia.

Chinese aviation authorities on Monday have told the airlines in the country to ground all their Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, citing the reason that it requires for “strict control of safety risks.”

According to the regulators in Indonesia, the planes there would need to be inspected before flights resumed.
Singapore’s government on Tuesday said that it was temporarily suspending the use of the Boeing aircraft in and out of its territory.

A few hours later following Singapore’s lead, Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority followed with a temporary suspension to review the risks, citing the best interests of safety.

Some of the other individual airlines are also taking their own action to keep the planes on the ground in other countries.

Nearly 40 percent of the in-service fleet of 371 Boeing 737 MAX jets globally is grounded, according to industry publication Flightglobal, including 97 jets in the biggest market, China.

The recent crisis has wiped billions of dollars off the market value of the world’s biggest plane maker. The Boeing share closed 5 percent down on Monday after dipping as much as 13.5 percent at one point.
