Actor-singer Meesha Shafi has been ordered by the District-session court to submit her reply in the defamation suit which was filed by Ali Zafar. It is being reported that the judge adjourned the hearing till 25th September, giving more time to the defendant. Meesha Shafi’s counsel has been reported to submitted the power of attorney before the court and sought further adjournment of proceedings in order to have a chance to properly read the plea.
Harassment charges were levelled against Ali Zafar by Meesha Shafi. She took the issue to social media some while ago, which were categorically denied by Ali Zafar and sent a legal notice to Shafi, stating that her tweets from April 19, 2018, were slanderous and defamatory.
Sharing this because I believe that by speaking out about my own experience of sexual harassment, I will break the culture of silence that permeates through our society. It is not easy to speak out.. but it is harder to stay silent. My conscience will not allow it anymore #MeToo pic.twitter.com/iwex7e1NLZ
