COVID-19 second wave sweeps across Pakistan; NCOC issues new guidelines

As COVID-19 second wave sweeps across Pakistan; the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC) on Wednesday has issued new guidelines.

As per new orders, markets, shopping malls, wedding halls, and restaurants will close at 10 pm in 11 cities of Pakistan to restrict the spread of COVID-19 as the country faces the second wave of coronavirus.

The NCOC has also decided that parks across the country will close at 6 pm. Strict action will be taken against those who violate the instructions.

It is now a must for people to wear masks if they are going to crowded places. Wearing masks also have been made compulsory at both government and private offices.

The Guidelines  include:

• strict enforcement of “compulsory mask wearing” rule in confines spaces including indoor venues, public transport, bus and train stations, markets and other crowded spots

• implementation of broad-based smart lockdowns in areas identified as hotspots

• closure of commercial activities by 10pm

• closure of amusement and public parks by 8pm

The directive comes a day after Pakistan’s active cases surpassed the 11,000 mark and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Health Dr.Faisal Sultan announced that the second wave of the deadly virus had started in the country.
