Dengue Cases Surge by 135% in Sindh Over the Past Seven Months
1,022 cases were detected in Karachi only
Dengue fever cases in Sindh have risen by 135% over the past seven months, according to recent health reports.
According to the Sindh Health Department report released on Friday, 1,167 cases of dengue fever have been reported in Sindh so far this year and 1,022 of them were detected in Karachi only.
In Karachi, the highest number of dengue cases, 329, was reported from District East, 241 cases were reported from District Central, 197 from District South and 86 from District Korangi, the health department said.
Meanwhile, the report stated that 66 dengue cases were reported in Keamari, 60 in district West and 43 in district Malir.
As reported, 1,034 cases of dengue were reported in Sindh in the first seven months of 2024 while 440 cases of dengue were reported during this time last year.
Giving details of this year’s cases, the health department stated 83 dengue cases were reported from Hyderabad, 34 from Mirpurkhas and 12 from Sukkur.
The alarming increase highlights a growing public health concern, with local authorities intensifying efforts to control the spread of the disease.
Health officials are urging residents to take preventive measures and are ramping up mosquito control programs to combat the outbreak.
The rise in cases underscores the urgent need for increased awareness and effective response strategies to address the situation.
