After California reported 184 cases of Coronavirus and four deaths due to it, Disneyland in the state has announced to close down its operations beginning from tomorrow, Saturday.
“In the best interest of our guests and employees, we are proceeding with the closure of Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park, beginning the morning of March 14 through the end of the month,” said a statement released by the authorities at the park.
The statement further stated that the hotels would continue to remain open till Monday to facilitate the guests in making travel arrangements, whereas Downtown Disney would also continue to operate.
Disneyland California has over 31,000 staff members and on an average 50,000 visitors per day. In the wake of Coronavirus, the Californian government had banned large scale public gatherings of over 250 people but did not impose it as a law on Disneyland. The decision has come after the management’s internal review of the epidemic situation.
This is the fourth time in the history of Disneyland California that the park has completely shut down its operations, and only the first time after 9/11 for such closure to happen.
