Doctor at Peshawar hospital tests positive for COVID-19

A doctor at the Khyber Teaching Hospital in Peshawar has tested positive for COVID-19, said the Young Doctors Association (YDA).

Adding further that the doctor, who is also the spokesperson of the Grand Health Alliance and was treating coronavirus patients when he got infected.

The infected doctor is reported to be in stable condition and currently under treatment at the KTH.

Meanwhile, 58 new coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, taking the provincial tally to 993, according to report issued by the KP health directorate.

According to the spokesperson for the health department, 23 additional cases were added to KP’s total, citing “data backlog”.

The KP has also recorded three new deaths, two in Peshawar and one in Nowshera.

Earlier on Monday, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Director of Public Health Dr. Ikramullah Khan has tested positive for coronavirus.

On Monday, the province’s minister for finance and health, Taimur Khan Jhagra shared the development in a series of Tweets, saying that the relevant premises are being sanitised, and close contacts will be tested for their safety

“Today, one of our most committed public health professionals, and part of our COVID19 response team, Dr. Ikramullah, Director of Public Health KP has tested positive for Coronavirus. I just talked to him. He is in high spirits, feeling good, and isolated at his home”, shared Taimur Khan Jhagra in a tweet.
