Doctors Examine Imran Khan in Adiala Jail, Prescribe Medications

Jail sources confirmed that the doctors prescribed some medications following the check-up.

A team of doctors from Islamabad’s PIMS Hospital conducted a medical examination of former Prime Minister and PTI Chairman Imran Khan at Adiala Jail.

The visit, which lasted approximately 30 minutes, was carried out on Monday to address health concerns raised by his legal team.

The four-member team was headed by Dr Altaf Hussain, an ENT specialist.

Other members of the team included Dr Umar Farooq from the hospital’s Dental Department, Dr Muhammad Ali Arif from General Medicine and Dr Tashfeen Imtiaz from General Surgery.

Jail sources confirmed that the doctors prescribed some medications following the check-up.

As reported, the medical team, including specialists, primarily examined Khan’s ear-related issues, as he has been reportedly suffering from tinnitus—a condition involving persistent ear noise.

While government-appointed doctors prescribed medications, earlier reports suggest that Khan’s personal physician had advised against certain prescriptions due to potential side effects.

Imran Khan, who has been incarcerated since August 2023 on multiple charges, remains under close health monitoring. PTI officials have reiterated their concerns about his well-being and continue to demand proper medical care.

Monday’s medical examination comes in response to a series of recent allegations made by the PTI, particularly by its information secretary, Sheikh Waqqas Akram, who asserted that the government had placed Imran Khan in solitary confinement.

Another PTI leader claimed that Mr Khan was being denied visits from his sisters and other relatives.

Additionally, a PTI leader stated that the PTI founder’s family physician was not permitted to see him, raising concerns about his health.
