The government of Punjab on Sunday has approved the Drug Amendment Bill 2020 paving way to the production of cosmetics meet with international standards.
The development came in the wider interests of people, according to the statement of Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar.
The CM Punjab said that the mafia involved in manufacturing and selling substandard and counterfeit cosmetics was remained unaccountable in the past as no action was taken by the institutions concerned in this regard.
“Manufacturers and sellers of substandard cosmetics are playing with the health of the people besides looting them”, he said.
Buzdar said that the amendment bill would ensure the manufacture of cosmetics in accordance with international standards, adding that now beauty products would be free from ingredients that cause cancer, allergies, and skin diseases.
