Earthquake tremors strikes KPK, Punjab

A moderate intensity earthquake struck parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK), Punjab and Gilgit on late Monday, National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC) reports said.

According to details, the impact of the tremors was felt in the entire in Swat, Mingora, Jhelum, Khewra, Pind Dadan Khan, Gilgit and other parts of the country, spreading fears among the people.

According to the National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC), the magnitude of the quake on the Richter scale was recorded as 5.6 while the epicentre of the quake, with a depth of42 kilometers, was 260 kilometers north-east of Mingora.

No casualty reported in the quake-hit areas, according to the initial reports.

Earlier on December 20, the northern areas of the country jolted by severe earthquake tremors felt in Islamabad, Lahore, Peshawar and other cities of KPK  as an earthquake measuring 6.4 on the Richter scale rocked the cities leaving not any casualty.
