The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Saturday has issued a notice to hear a plea on February 3 against the Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda seeking his disqualification.
The petition was filed by, Qadir Mandokhel, demanding Vawda’s disqualification for the “fake undertaking” he had submitted to the ECP.
The petitioner claimed that the federal minister had concealed his dual citizenship while submitting his nomination papers for General Elections 2018.
Notices have been issued to the concerned parties in the case, said ECP.
Earlier this week, an investigation reports revealed that the federal minister, at the time of filing nomination papers on June 11, 2018, was an American citizen. Dual nationality status was intact even during the scrutiny of nomination papers.
The federal minister had held a US passport when he filed his nomination papers on June 11, 2018. The reports have claimed that at the time of submitting his nomination papers, Vawda was a US national and that was against the rulings of the Supreme Court.
