The National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) in a statement on Tuesday informed that authorities have sealed a “major educational institute” in Islamabad after report of a spike in COVID-19 cases.
The development comes on the same day as education institutes were reopened all across the country after being closed for six months amid coronavirus lockdown.
However, the name of the educational institute is not revealed yet.
A major educational institution sealed in Islamabad. Due to targeted testing, 16 cases were reported from the subject institution,” read the statement.
The NCOC also shared that contact tracing will now be followed to “ensure containment” of COVID-19 cases in the city.
The NCOC has urged the parents and teachers to comply with the COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued for the safety of students.
