Educational institutions in Pakistan to reopen phase-wise from January 18

Shafqat Mehmood Federal Minister for Education on Monday has announced the phase-wise reopening of educational institutions from January 18.

As per the announcement, the classes for 9th to 12th would start from January 18, while students of junior classes to 8th would resume classes on January 25.

Furthermore, the higher education at the universities and colleges would resume from 1st February.

While addressing a press conference after the Inter-Provincial Education Ministers Conference (IPEMC,  Minister Shafqat Mehmood said that the students would not be promoted to the next classes with examination this year.

“We are taking all possible measures to protect children of educational institutions from the second wave of coronavirus,” he added.

“We are seriously contemplating a plan to reopen schools for children,“ he stated.

He further added that all standard operating procedures (SOPs) would be followed after the opening of educational institutions in the country.
