Eid ul Azha 2020: Punjab health ministry issues SOPs for cattle markets

Punjab health ministry on Saturday has issued the list of standard operating procedures (SOPs) for cattle markets to be followed on Eidul Azha in order to minimise the spread of Covid-19.

According to the notification, the provincial government said that the safety guidelines are issued every year, however, a more “comprehensive and focused approach” was required this year in order to prevent the novel coronavirus from spreading.

Following are the guidelines issued for the location and layout of cattle markets issued by the Punjab government:

  • The cattle markets should be established at designated spots that are 2-5 kilometers outside city limits.

  • The number and size of the markets should depend upon cattle base and transport facilities.

  • The cattle markets must have:

1 – sheds for animals in the business area

2 – management offices with ventilation

    3 – medical camps

    4 – spacious parking lots

5 – separate entry and exit points
