In a rather unexpected turn of events Pakistan is once again going to celebrate two different Eids in two different regions.
According to news doing rounds, Mufti Shahabuddin Popalzai, cheif cleric of self proclaimed Ruet-e-Hilal Committee of Masjid Qasim Ali Khan, confirmed sighting of the moon in areas of Peshawar from 25 witnesses.
The official Ruet-e-Hilal Committee will however hold a meeting tomorrow in Karachi to sight the moon for Eid ul Fitr. The Minister of Science, Fawad Chaudhry however, already stated that Pakistan would observe Eid on June 5 according to the newly established lunar calendar.
Meanwhile the Shawwal moon was sighted today in Saudi Arabia and Eid-ul Fitr will be celebrated on Tuesday.
