Fawad Chaudhry warns of an impending gas crisis in the country!

Addressing a post-cabinet meeting press conference on Tuesday, Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry raised an alarm over the looming gas crisis, adding that it was depleting by 9 percent every year for the last two years.

“Gas is available in big cities to 23pc people at subsidized rates and its burden is being borne by 78pc people in other parts of the country who rely on LPG, coal, and other means,” the minister said.

The federal minister further stressed that people getting gas at cheaper rates in big cities should now change their habits.

“This trend will not continue for long anymore,” he said.

He said that the government would have to restructure its gas system to ensure equal supply to everyone.

The minister added an uninterrupted supply of gas to industries also resulted in sizable urea production.

Meanwhile, an increase in the cost of LPG, coal, wood, and electricity has made citizens’ livelihood difficult.

People across the country are worried about making food and keeping warm this winter.

The gas crisis continues in various cities of the country, due to which the citizens are facing severe difficulties in carrying out their daily activities.

In Karachi, in many areas including Gulshan-e-Maymar, Orangi Town, New Karachi, Kharadar, Kemari, Sea View, and Malir, residents are facing severe difficulties due to prolonged gas load shedding and low pressure.

On the other hand, there is a shortage of gas in many cities of Punjab.

Gas pressure is low in some areas of Lahore while citizens of Bahawalnagar are also worried about gas load shedding.
