FBR has not extended deadline for filing tax returns, fake notification circulating on social media

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has not extended the deadline for filing tax returns.

A fake notification circulating on social media on Tuesday claimed that the deadline has been extended till January 31, 2021. However, that’s not the case.

The FBR on Monday stated that no further general extension in date will be granted to file annual income tax returns after the last date i.e. December 8, 2020.

However, it granted permission to the respective chief commissioners to allow returns if someone seeks to file them after the expiry of the due date on December 8, 2020.
