FBR website under cyberattack

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) website is under cyber attack!

As being reported the hackers have managed to break the hyper-V software by Microsoft, bringing down all the official websites operated by the tax machinery.

Initially, the reason behind the non-functionality of the website of the country’s premium tax collection body could not be ascertained.

People faced trouble accessing the FBR website as it has stopped working and showing an “invalid” error on the google search engine.

Later when accessed the notification on the website said, “FBR’s website is temporarily down for scheduled maintenance.”

On condition of anonymity, a senior official while explaining the gravity of the situation to The Express Tribune said that “There has been a national crisis-like situation since 2.00 am Saturday morning and we may not be out of the woods by Sunday evening.”

The main server and the FBR website have been down since the attack and efforts are underway to fix the problem.

However, the FBR has made another link available for visitors.
