Federal Cabinet removes Naeem Bukhari as PTV chairman

The Federal Cabinet on Saturday has removed Naeem Bukhari as chairman of Pakistan Television (PTV).

The decision comes in light of the Islamabad High Court (IHC) order in a petition challenging Naeem Bukhari’s appointment.

Meanwhile, Aamer Manzoor has been restored as the managing director of the state-run television who was removed by the corporation’s board of directors on January 1.

The approval was given through the circulation summary.

On Thursday, Naeem Bokhari was restrained from working as Pakistan Television (PTV) chairman on orders of the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

His appointment was challenged by a filled petition at IHC stating that the government did not advertise the vacancy and Bokhari is older than 65 years old.

Bokhari was appointed as PTV chairperson and independent director of the Pakistan Television Corporation Board on November 23, 2020.
