Firdous Shamim Naqvi, PTI Karachi President and Leader of the Opposition in Sindh Assembly has handed over resignation to Governor Sindh Imran Ismail on Wednesday.
The confirmation of the PTI leader’s resignation comes from Governor Sindh Imran Ismail, who while talking to media said that he had formally submitted his request to step down from the post the day he had apologised for his remarks against the PTI, Prime Minister Imran Khan and power minister Omar Ayub.
“On ethical grounds, he has handed in his resignation to me,” said Ismail.
He further added that”The prime minister has yet to accept his resignation.”
According to the news source, PTI has sought resignation from its provincial lawmaker and Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly, following the incident earlier this month where he lost his cool and issued disparaging remarks against the premier and Ayub over poor gas delivery in Karachi.
“I am not concerned if it is the PTI’s government [at the Centre] or the PML-N’s,” he said during a press conference.
“The city has very poor gas delivery. I will keep on raising my voice [over the issue]. The prime minister should listen, Omar Ayub should listen and Nadeem Babar should also listen. I will make sure they feel ashamed and will say to them ‘Koi sharam hoti hai koi haya hoti hai (Where is your shame, your honour?)’,” said Naqvi talking to news reporters.
An insider source claims that Firdous Shamim Naqvi failed to perform well as the Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly, whereas, his controversial statements also created issues for the political party.
