Five boys, aged between nine and 14 years, drowned in a water-filled pit in Surjani Town, Karachi on Sunday.
Their bodies were recovered by rescue workers and shifted to a local hospital for medico-legal formalities.
The boys were identified as Zubair, Aman, Abdullah, and brothers, Aseed, and Maqsood.
According to sources, the children were playing on the site of an under-construction building and jumped into the nearby pit to cool off.
The residents of the area have accused the builders and officials of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board of negligence, as it was water from a faulty pipeline that had accumulated in the three to four feet deep pit.
