Five civilians injured in Indian firing along LoC, ISPR

At least five civilians, including two young boys and two elderly women, were injured in a major ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC) in Azad Kashmir, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

According to the ISPR, the incident happened in the Nikial sector of the LoC on Sunday night.

Pakistan Army troops responded effectively to the Indian aggression, said the military media wing.

“Indian Army troops unprovoked ceasefire violation in Nikial sector, along LoC, targeting civil population late last night. Pakistan Army troops responded effectively to Indian firing,” ISPR added.

Earlier on Saturday, a 22-year-old man was injured late Saturday night as the Indian Army resorted to unprovoked firing along the Line of Control (LoC).

According to the ISPR, the Indian forces had fired heavy mortars at the Battal Sector along the LoC.

On July 2, spokesperson Foreign Office (FO) Aisha Farooqui had condemned Indian security forces’ unabated ceasefire violations along the LoC.

She said that in the first six months of 2020, 1,546 ceasefire violations had been occurred, resulting in the martyrdom of 14 innocent civilians and serious injuries to 114 others.
