Former Mossad Officials Join Call for Gaza Ceasefire, Hostage Release Amid Escalating Conflict

Tensions in the Gaza conflict have escalated as over 250 former Israeli intelligence officials, including three former Mossad chiefs, have called for an immediate end to the war and the release of Israeli hostages held in Gaza.
According to Israeli media reports, over 250 former officials of Israel’s Mossad intelligence agency, including three former Mossad chiefs—Danny Yatom, Ephraim Halevy, and Tamir Pardo—have signed a letter urging Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to immediately end the war in the Gaza Strip and secure the release of Israeli hostages held there.
This move adds to a growing wave of dissent within Israel’s security establishment, as numerous groups of military personnel and veterans have also called for an end to the conflict.
The Mossad veterans expressed support for a similar letter written by hundreds of Israeli Air Force reservists, who advocated for halting the war to prioritize the return of hostages. However, this stance has been met with opposition from Netanyahu, who labeled the signatories as an “extremist fringe group” attempting to undermine Israeli unity.
The situation reflects mounting public pressure on the Israeli government to reconsider its approach to the Gaza conflict, with mediators reportedly working on a ceasefire and hostage release deal.
Despite these efforts, Hamas has requested more time to consider proposals, emphasizing the need for guarantees that Israel will engage in further talks leading to an end to the war.
