Former Union Council Chairman Haji Amanullah Afridi Shot Dead in Karachi’s Baldia Town

The police have recovered three bullet casings from the crime scene

Former union council chairman, Haji Amanullah Afridi, 65, was shot dead in Baldia Town, Karachi, on Tuesday morning by an unidentified gunman on a motorcycle.

The incident occurred at approximately 6:27 AM near Afridi’s residence, as reported by police officials.

Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police South, Syed Asad Raza, stated that the killing appears to be linked to personal enmity, although investigations are ongoing.

Witnesses and CCTV footage from the scene reveal that the assailant, dressed in traditional Shalwar kameez, followed Afridi before opening fire. The police have recovered three bullet casings from the crime scene and are conducting geofencing in the area to help identify the shooter.

Afridi was known for his active participation in local social and political circles and had previously served as an independent candidate for the union council chairmanship in Abidabad.

The Edhi rescue service confirmed that Afridi’s body was transferred to the Civil Hospital for autopsy examinations.

The police are continuing their investigation into this targeted attack, which has raised concerns about safety and violence in the region.
