Four Pakistani students in China diagnosed with coronavirus

Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Health (SAPM) Dr. Zafar Mirza confirms that four Pakistani students in china have been diagnosed with coronavirus.

He was speaking at a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday, however, he refused to share the names of the affected students with the media.

“The government will take good care of the students who have contracted the virus,” he said at the presser.

“Four students have been confirmed to have the coronavirus. Their condition is better now,” Dr. Zafar Mirza said. He said that the health ministry is in contact with the Pakistani embassy in Beijing.

“Pakistani officials in China are in constant touch with all the students,” he added.

There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pakistan yet, SAPM added.

This confirmation from the officials comes a day after a group of Pakistani students in China appealed to the government to evacuate them from the virus effected country.

A large proportion of the Pakistanis living in China are students of which over 500 students reported to be based in the central city of Wuhan, the epicenter of the new virus.

Reportedly, the deadly coronavirus has killed 132 people and infected more than 6,000 in mainland China and abroad so far.
