‘Game of Thrones’ wins big at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards

Despite facing a lot of criticism, the final season of HBO series Game of Thrones has bagged the most awards at the Creative Arts Emmys 2019.

The show won 10 awards going into next week’s main event — bringing HBO’s award tally to 25 Emmys!

Considered the technical equivalent of the main Primetime Emmy Awards event that is scheduled to be held on September 22 in Los Angeles, the Creative Arts Emmys handed 10 awards to Game of Thrones. The awards were won in categories such as editing, music composition, casting, title design, sound editing, sound mixing, visual effects, make-up, costumes, and stunt coordination.

Earlier, the show accomplished an Emmys’ record this year with 32 nominations, the most for any show in a year. The record had been held by NYPD Blue which garnered 26 nominations in 1994.

These awards have made HBO grab 25 Creative Arts wins over the weekend compared to Netflix’s 23, going into the main event next week.

This year has been big for HBO, as it came in with 137, the most ever by a network in a year, as opposed to Netflix’s 117.

Other than Game of Thrones, Chernobyl and the documentary Free Solo won seven awards, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel won six, and Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots bagged 5 at the Creative Arts Emmys.

The primetime Emmys ceremony will be held on Sunday, 22 September.
