Govt. issues SOPs for Muharram and Independence Day

The government has prepared standard operating procedures (SOPs) specific for the upcoming events of Independence Day and Muharram.

In a meeting held on Friday National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) discussed in detail the roadmap and measures being adopted to open various sectors and the preparedness ahead of Independence Day celebrations and Muharram.

The fresh SOPs have been issued in light of reports of an increase in COVID-19 cases after Eid-ul-Azha in Punjab.

Muharram SOPs:

1. Only registered processions would be allowed to be taken out.

2. Organisers of processions will be asked to avoid narrow streets.

3. Speakers would have to wear masks and maintain a distance of at least six feet from the first row of the majlis participants.

Independence Day SOPs:

Similarly, for Independence Day events, the use of sanitisers at entry points and wearing the masks would be mandatory for participants.
