Govt. launches Zainab Alert app for missing children’s recovery

The federal government on Thursday has launched the Zainab Alert app for citizens to immediately report about their missing child to curb abductions and rape in Pakistan that have been surge in recent history.

According to the details, the Ministry of Human Rights collaborated with Prime Minister’s Performance Delivery Unit (PMDU) in the launching of app for missing children.

The launching ceremony of the app was held in Islamabad which was attended by Minister for Human Rights Shireen Mazari and Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar.

In her statement in the launching ceremony, Mazari told that the previous government had already started work on an app like Zainab Alert, which was named “mera bacha” (my child) on the prime minister’s portal but it was never completed.

The human rights minister said that Zainab Alert app has been linked with district police officers throughout the country. It is connected to 36 police officers in Punjab, 33 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while 50 district police officers in Sindh.

The complaints registered on the app will prompt the police to take an immediate inquiry related to the matter; she said adding that it has been designed in a manner that making a fake alert is not possible.
