Govt. revokes flight operations’ resumption decision after Sindh government’s reservation

The federal government on Sunday revoked the notification regarding the resumption of international flight operations after Sindh government’s reservations.

Earlier, the notification of resumption of international flights was issued in which authorities had allowed flight operations at Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Quetta and Peshawar airports from April 5.

Sindh Information Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, in his tweet on Saturday reacted to the federal government’s decision saying that the provinces should have been consulted as they are struggling to contain the epidemic.

“No way, it’s too early to decide on this. Such a decision needs to made by the consent of provincial governments as each province is struggling very hard to contain the spread of coronavirus. We can’t afford any risk at this point,” Shah tweeted.

Pakistan had earlier banned all incoming international flight operations and even suspended domestic travel as newer cases of the virus had emerged in the country.

On Saturday, the federal government has decided to resume international flight operations from April 5 to bring back stranded Pakistanis from abroad as the coronavirus pandemic continues to affect the flight operations.

The government has permitted resumption of international flight operations at Karachi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad, Quetta and Peshawar airports from April 5 as PM’s office issued the notification.
