Govt slashes petrol and diesel prices for next fortnight
The new petrol price now stands at Rs247.03 and that of HSD Rs246.29.
The government on Monday evening announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices for next fortnight!
The new prices will be effective from October 1, according to an official notification.
The price of petrol is cut by Rs2.07 per litre and high-speed diesel by Rs3.4/ltr.
The updated prices for petrol and HSD following the reduction are Rs247.3 and Rs246.29, respectively.
Meanwhile, the price of light diesel has been reduced by Rs1.3 per litre, bringing the new price to Rs140.9.
Furthermore, the kerosene oil price has also been decreased by Rs3.57 per litre.
“The federal government continues to provide relief to the people. The price of petroleum products has decreased once again,” said a statement issued by state broadcaster PTV.
Currently, the government is imposing a tax of approximately Rs76 per litre on both petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD). Despite the general sales tax being set at zero for all petroleum products, a petroleum development levy of Rs60 per litre is being applied to both, significantly affecting the general public.
