Imam stabbed during Fajar prayers at New Jersey’s Omar Mosque
32-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing Imam Sayed Elnakib

Imam was stabbed during Fajar prayers at New Jersey’s Omar Mosque on Sunday.
There were reportedly, over 200 other worshippers at the mosque on Sunday morning.
According to the spokesperson of the mosque Abdul Hamdan, “Imam Sayed Elnakib was stabbed during the first prayer of the day, around 5:30 am, at Omar Mosque in south Paterson while the congregation was kneeling for prayer.”
The man who stabbed the Imam was caught by the worshippers, added.
The suspected assailant stabbed the imam multiple times.
“The suspect lunged forward with a knife and stabbed Imam Sayed multiple times – at least twice,” Hamdan said.
However, the worshippers managed to catch the suspect while he tried to escape and held him “until the police arrived” and apprehended him, he added.
A 32-year-old suspect has been charged with attempted murder for stabbing Imam Sayed Elnakib.
According to the local officials, the prayer leader’s lung was hurt in the attack but his condition stabilised after treatment.

Imam Sayed Elnakib was stabbed twice in the back whilst leading Fajr prayer at the Omar Mosque in Paterson, New Jersey.
