Imran Khan Calls for Nationwide Protest on November 24
This is final call for anti-govt protest, lawyer Faisal Chaudhry quotes Imran Khan.
Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has urged his supporters to participate in a nationwide protest scheduled for November 24, 2024, focusing on Islamabad.
Key Demands of the Protest:
- Withdrawal of the 26th Constitutional Amendment
- Restoration of PTI’s alleged stolen mandate
- Release of detained PTI workers held without trial
This announcement was made by Imran Khan’s lawyer, Faisal Chaudhry, and his sister, Aleema Khan, during a press briefing on Wednesday.
Talking to reporters in Rawalpindi, lawyer Faisal Chaudhry said: “Imran Khan says this is the final call for a [anti-government] protest. The PTI founder has stressed that the party’s entire leadership will be part of the march.”
He asserted that the protest is not limited to Islamabad; it will also take place in cities across Pakistan and among international supporters of the party.
In preparation for the event, Khan has established a committee tasked with organizing the protest. The identities of committee members remain confidential due to concerns about potential arrests.
Chaudhry assured that all party leaders are aware of their roles and responsibilities, and the committee will have the authority to call off the protest if necessary.
He further added that KP CM Gandpur would also lead a convoy from the province on the PTI founder’s directions.
Detailing the demands of the protest, Chaudhry said that the party demands the withdrawal of the contentious 26th Constitutional Amendment, “return of PTI’s mandate”, and release of workers who are in jails without trials.
The protest comes after frustrations within the party following an earlier rally in Islamabad that ended abruptly. PTI leaders are determined to ensure that this upcoming demonstration is well-coordinated and impactful.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur confirmed he would lead a convoy from his province as part of the mobilization efforts.
The political climate remains tense as Adviser to the Prime Minister on Political and Public Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, warned that Khan’s “do-or-die” approach could provoke a crackdown on PTI supporters.
On the other hand, Aleema Khan talking to media in Rawalpindi highlighted her brother’s message to the nation, urging citizens to choose between “martial law or freedom.”
She called on various groups—including farmers, lawyers, civil society members, and students—to join in demanding their rights and judicial protection.
As preparations intensify for the November 24 protest, KP CM Ali Amin Gandapur affirmed that there would be “no turning back this time,” vowing that the demonstration would persist until all demands were met.
The upcoming weeks are expected to be marked by heightened political activity and potential confrontations as Khan’s supporters rally for their cause.
