Imran Khan initiates legal proceedings against Geo, Shahzeb Khanzada and Umar Zahoor in UAE!

In the latest development in the ongoing Tonsha Khana controversy, the Former Prime Minister and Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has initiated legal proceedings in the United Arab Emirates against the private TV channel Geo News, Anchor Person Shahzeb Khanzada and Umar Farooq Zahoor who claimed to have bought Tosha Khana gifts.

In a message on Twitter, Imran Khan said that “My UAE lawyers headed by Hasan Shad have now filed a criminal defamation claim under UAE law against Geo TV, Shahzeb Khanzada and fraudster Umar Farooq Zahoor.”

It should be noted that on November 15, while giving an interview to ‘Geo News’ anchor Shahzeb Khanzada, Dubai-based businessman Umar Farooq Zahoor claimed that an expensive gift was given to Imran Khan by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The watch was sold to him for $2 million, which was worth around Rs 28 crore in 2019.

He had said that ‘in March 2019, former accountability minister Shahzad Akbar said that he has a set of watches and if I am interested, I should contact Farah Khan (a close friend of Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Bibi). Because they need help and there are no buyers for these assets.’

Umar Farooq Zahoor claimed in an interview that he met Farah Khan in Dubai who told him that the watch was gifted to Imran Khan by a Saudi prince and she wanted to sell it on behalf of Imran Khan and his wife.

He said that PTI wanted to sell this watch for 40 to 5 million dollars, but after negotiations, I bought it for 2 million dollars and paid in cash on Farah Khan’s insistence.

Umar Farooq Zahoor said that ‘Immediately after the payment, Farah Khan told Shahzad Akbar on the phone that the deal was done and thanked him for introducing me, Shahzad Akbar also thanked me for buying gifts for Tosha Khana. And requested me not to discuss this matter with anyone and I complied.

During an interview aired on Geo News, Umar Farooq Zahoor also showed the watch and claimed that it was genuine, he also offered to provide more details if the matter was investigated.

Later on November 15, Imran Khan announced legal action in response to these fresh revelations regarding the purchase of Tosha Khana gifts.

Imran Khan said in his tweet that “Geo and Anchorperson Shahzeb Khanzada have defamed me through a baseless story concocted by a famous fraudster and globally wanted criminal with the help of handlers”.

He further said that ‘Enough is enough now, I have spoken to my lawyers and have decided to file a case against Jeev, Shahzeb Khanzada and the forger (Umar Zahoor) not only in Pakistan but also in UK and UAE’.
